Hawaiian Canoe Club has been actively monitoring the COVID19 situation. The health and safety of the community, paddlers and volunteers is the main priority when considering the possibilities of hosting this annual event. With the uncertainty of the paddling seasons across the State, the decision to cancel the Pailolo Challenge was not made lightly.
The race committee echoes the sentiments of all race organizers who have made changes to their planned events. The paddling community around the State has been severely impacted by this ongoing pandemic and the Pailolo Challenge joins other major race organizers in making the decision to cancel the annual 26-mile crossing scheduled for September 19, 2020.
